We already knew that Ariana DeBose and Alan Tudyk were part of the voice cast of Disney’s upcoming animated film, Desire. During the studio’s big presentation at CinemaCon on Wednesday, it was announced that Chris Pine would be joining them to play King Magnifico.
Directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, Desire features Asha (DeBose), a passionate idealist who makes a wish so powerful that it is granted by a cosmic force: a small ball of limitless energy called the Star. Together, Asha and Star set out to prove that when a brave human will is connected to the magic of the stars, wonderful things can happen.
The Magnificent King, for his part, is the ruler of the Kingdom of Rosas, a place where wishes come true.
“As the most powerful person in the kingdom, Magnificent King needed to be played by someone who could bring all the charm, wit and charisma to this magnanimous character, and Chris brings all of that and more,” said Jennifer Lee. , executive producer and one of the screenwriters of the film.
Desire marked the traditional slot of Disney’s animated holiday film, arriving on November 22nd.
