Steven Spielberg’s unexpected reaction to seeing Harrison Ford in ‘Indiana Jones 5’: “Damn it!”

“I thought I was the only one who knew how to make one of these!”

Steven Spielberg has been one of the first lucky ones to see ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate’, the fifth premiere of the legendary Harrison Ford saga. The filmmaker, who signed the previous franchise titles, attended the screening accompanied by James Mangold, the director in charge of the new story tape.

After seeing the film, the director of ‘ET’ went to the TIME 100 Summit and shared his experience watching the first ‘Indiana Jones’ movie that was not directed by himself. (As is easy to imagine, the public present waited expectantly).

I had the experience a couple of nights ago,” commented the filmmaker. “Bob Iger did a screening of the movie with many Disney executives. I went with the director, James Mangold. Everybody loved the movie. It’s really a very good ‘Indiana Jones’ movie. I’m very proud of what Jim has done with it..”

Furthermore, he added: “When the lights came up, I turned to the group and said, ‘Damn! I thought I was the only one who knew how to do one of these!’

Success! If Spielberg gives the thumbs up, it will be very difficult to disappoint the audience. The film, which will hit theaters around the world in June this year, has already caused a lot to talk about for various reasons.

One of the most relevant is the radical rejuvenation that Harrison Ford has undergone for the opening sequence of the film. During the first 25 minutes, thanks to a software of very sophisticated editing, we will see Ford with his physical aspect of ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’.

At almost 80 years old, the interpreter has been able to recover his appearance from the first days. And, as the actor himself recognized, the result is sensational.

I don’t know how they do it. But it’s my real face. They put a few dots on my face, I say the lines and they get to do it. It’s fantastic, Ford commented.

The fifth premiere of ‘Indiana Jones’ has already become one of the most anticipated films of 2023. In it, we will see Ford accompanied by a cast of great performers made up of: Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Antonio Banderas and John Rhys-Davies.

The time of the premiere is getting closer. If you haven’t done a marathon of the saga for a long time, don’t miss the opportunity and refresh your memory before the new one hits theaters.
