The Dodgeball sequel is reportedly in the works

“Blade. Laser. Jacket.” it’s much quieter dodgeball quote that lives forever on the lips of EmpireThe podcast team, but it seems like they might have more choice if the long-rumored (and sometimes in the works) sequel finally hits screens. Second Expirationis still in the works, with Vince Vaughn returning as Peter La Fleur and Jordan VanDina writing the script.

The 2004 original revealed that Average Joes gym in La Fleur was suffering financially and faced the threat of a colossal corporate takeover by White Goodman (Stiller). To raise the funds needed to stay in business, La Fleur joins a team of underdogs in a major dodgeball competition, led by legendary player Patches “if you can dodge a key, you can dodge a bullet” O’Houlihan (Rip Torn). He points to, as the subtitle suggests, a true underdog story, but also a barrage of quotable jokes and well-judged slapstick.

Rawson Marshall Thurber wrote and directed the surprise hit, but he doesn’t seem to be involved yet and has his hands full. red alert and his project Dungeons and Dragons series. The idea for the new film apparently came from Vaughn himself, so now we’re waiting to see if it goes beyond this or that…
