Carrie Bradshaw and her friends return to HBO Max next July and the trailer for the second season of ‘And just like that…’ has shown us where their plots will go.
The return of Carrie Bradshaw and her friends to our home is just around the corner. HBO Max has announced that the second season of ‘And just like that…’ will arrive next June (no exact date yet) and has shown a trailer that serves as a good appetizer. Not only do we see the girls walking around Manhattan in heels again, and the occasional impossible and captivating look, but it also gives us clues about the plots of this new batch of episodes that, in addition to an expected return, seem willing to correct the mistakes of his debut season.
Indeed, if we’re fair, we have to admit that ‘And just like that…’ was anything but perfect and that it wasn’t quite up to the task of ‘Sex and the City’ in its day, although it did surpass that disastrous second movie. Not only was Samantha’s absence a drag on the series (it’s painful, but we must let her go and heal our hearts), but also a series of plots that were going nowhere, although seeing Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte again, now older but not necessarily more mature, was more than enough reason to keep glued to the screen week to week. Now it looks like the series has straightened the course… or so we want to believe.
consolation sex
If you’ve come this far, it’s because you’ve already seen the first season of ‘And just like that…’. If not, you are more lost than the Bradshaw in a Decathlon. So let’s start by talking about what happened to the protagonist and where she is taking us: Mr. Big’s death marked the first season and left Carrie somewhat lost and devastated, although trying to rebuild her life. In the second season, he has recovered a little more joy and has even returned to having sexual encounters with men.. “Consolation sex” for grief, she calls it herself. It doesn’t seem like her relationship with Franklyn, the producer of her podcast, is going to be more than that. But it’s 2023, and as Jackie, his co-worker, warns her, she has to start thinking about the feelings of the men he sleeps with.
Che continues, despite the hate
Something that became very clear in the social conversation about ‘And just like that…’ was that a large part of the public did not like Che’s character at all (don’t look at me, I have no problem with him). The character of Sara Ramírez, comedian and non-binary activist, burst in with a force that, for some, was exhausting. However, It also led to one of the most interesting plots: that in the fifties Miranda went crazy with love, accepted her queer side and turned her life upside down. leaving good (and boring) Steve. Then what? Well, it’s time to see how long the overflowing passion between Che and Miranda will last and what is that “big step” that the redhead refers to in the trailer. Let’s not forget that her girlfriend has a certain allergy to commitment, although he doesn’t want to admit it.
sex and maternity
While Carrie is sweating the sheets again (fancy and expensive sheets, of course) and Miranda is in love like a child, to Charlotte plays the role of the mother who, although she tries to be very modern, is shocked when her daughters approach sexual awakening.. If in the first season she was surprised when Rose announced that she was Rock, now she has to deal with Lily announcing that she wants to lose her virginity. Once again, we will see these two opposing forces that coexist within Charlotte and that magically come together as well: that traditional woman who wants to give an impeccable image to the world and that other woman who is never willing to be left behind.
The consolidation of Seema, Lisa and Nya
One of the problems with the first season of ‘And just like that…’ was that it introduced three new women, Seema, Lisa and Nya, who seemed destined to be part of the main group, but who, in reality, their Plots were little adhered to the story (especially that of Nya, Miranda’s teacher, whose marriage drama seemed, directly, another separate series). In this second season, instead, gives the feeling that they have risen to the level of protagonists to the level of the originals: At least, as we can see in the trailer, Lisa and Nya already have the honor of sitting at the table with Carrie and the others to share confidences. And we hope that Seema, on top of that, consolidates her own plot at this stage, since it was the best discovery of the previous one.
And the return of Aidan
And finally, Aidan. We would like Samantha to come out of that taxi that we see in the trailer for season 2 of ‘And just like that’ (come on, let’s accept that she will not happen), but the expected return that we will attend will be Aidan’s. Here the series has not broken its head: if we have already killed Mr. Big, we are going to pull the hook of Carrie’s other great ex-boyfriend, despite the fact that his return makes little sense in the series.
The last time we saw him was in the second movie (let’s stress: dire second movie), when they met at a bazaar in Abu Dhabi (oh, it’s a small world!) and they kissed, but since they were both married Carrie ended up running away . Despite the fact that he was a very heavy guy (sorry if you were #teamAidan), she has to put up with him again, just hoping that Carrie can’t put up with his bad mood and pretentious bohemian pretense this time . Friend, realize.
