With a no-holds-barred warning for children under 16, Eli Roth’s Hostel warned everyone that Gore would be at its height… The public was not disappointed and the film has become one of the best ever since. “Torture porn” genre.
The film begins with the introduction of its characters, Paxton (Jay Hernandez) and Josh (Derek Richardson), two American students who set out to discover Europe and its darkest corners for maximum excitement. Along the way, they meet Ollie and the three of them end up in Slovakia, in a wonderful hotel that will make them completely satisfied… until the nightmare begins!
If there’s one thing the hostel hasn’t stolen, it’s its CNC classification. The disclaimer that accompanied its release in France rightly stated: “Many images, of great violence, may shock the viewer.”
At the time, Eli Roth’s feature film was banned in Iran, Ukraine, Burma, Malaysia and Singapore.
Indeed, the film slowly transforms into a butchery with torture, kidnapping, sadism and chainsawing! A program that will delight fans of the genre and put off others.

If you liked the project, know that the director signed a second opus two years later, which takes the same starting point, this time with three female students as the main characters. Roth has honed his staging, which he uses to serve up a subject he knows and has a field day with. During these lines, the feature film is available on the Netflix platform.
