Since, Super Mario Bros. became the highest-grossing American and global film of 2023, as well as being the most successful film ever made based on a video game. These records are especially encouraging because the last time Mario and Luigi appeared on the big screen, in Super Mario Bros 1993 was a legendary example of Hollywood’s inability to adapt video games.

This time around, the film – starring the voices of Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jack Black – has flourished as a huge success, attracting viewers of all ages.
