Gladiator: Pedro Pascal could join the sequel

Pedro Pascal could be the next actor to join the sequel Gladiator. The star of the Hollywood series likes The Mandalorian AND The Last of Us is in final talks to star in the Paramount film, which will be directed by Ridley Scott and already stars Denzel Washington, Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan.

When it was released in the 2000s, Gladiator it was a success. Directed by Ridley Scott, the film stars Russell Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridius, a Roman soldier forced into slavery and who has sworn vengeance on Emperor Commodus (played by Joaquin Phoenix).

At the time, the film was considered a blockbuster: it grossed over $460 million at the box office. Furthermore, Gladiator earned 12 Academy Award nominations and won five statuettes, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Crowe.

With Pascal possibly joining the cast, the sequel to Gladiator adds yet another name of weight to the resume. The actor participates in successful Hollywood series, being able to compete for the Emmys this year, and will have his next film, Strange way to livepremiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

This year alone, Mescal and Keoghan were nominated for an Academy Award for their performances in after sun AND The Banshees of Inisherin, respectively. The former was also nominated for an Emmy, for Normal people. Washington is another one racking up award nominations, including having already picked up the Best Actor trophy Training day and Best Supporting Actor for times of glory.

Quinn, on the other hand, is one of the protagonists of the successful Netflix, Stranger things.

The film is scheduled for release on November 22, 2024.
