Just two years after the first Cow in France, Kelly Reichardt is back with Showing Up, her 8th feature film, in competition at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. The film director, who is especially appreciated by French movie lovers, finds one of his favorite actresses, Michelle Williams.

AlloCiné was able to speak with the tandem at the Cannes Film Festival last May.
“The starting point was to talk about a regional artist in the United States who works in the community, with family and friends around him.explains Kelly Reichardt, who was specifically inspired by the work of artist Cynthia Laht.
He has his job at the neighboring art school. But he has this need to sit at his desk every day to create. This is what feeds him. She’s getting ready for the vernissage, but we know it won’t change her life, she’ll definitely show it off.”
“We always feel close in one way or another to the characters we playMichelle Williams joins us on the mic. You identify with them and see the world as they see it. You try to understand how you feel close to him and the same differences.
All the characters I’ve played are characters I’ve drawn for me. And after some time you let those characters go.”
