Star Wars: Season 2 of the franchise’s most original series is here

May the force be with you! On the traditional May 4, the day of celebration of the Star Wars universe, the Disney + platform spoils its subscribers with the opening of nine episodes of its animated series, Star Wars: Visions.

A non-canonical work, this anthology challenges animation studios to deliver their own vision of the saga world. Although the first season of the program was surrounded only by Japanese talent, the second season returns to us on a more international scale, as this time it is studios from all over the world that have come together.

Among them the French from La Cachette (from the original series), the South Koreans from Studio Mir (Voltron), the Indians from 88 pictures (Chasseurs de Trolls), the Chileans from Punkrobot (The Magical Night of Gaspar), let’s not forget. from the famous British studio Aardman (Wallace and Gromit).

A Star Wars universe like never before seen

Nine “visions” completely different from each other and exploring the universe of Star Wars with the common theme of fighting the roots of evil and against the corruption of the mind by the dark side of the force, through different animation techniques (stop-motion, 2D, synthetic images, etc.).

Alternately focused on Jedi or Sith, droids and other creatures living in a galaxy far, far away, these adventures serve as inspiration for the creations of these nine animation studios. Especially since the format of the series allowed them to work with complete freedom, without restrictions, both in terms of tone and the content of the series itself.

So it’s no exaggeration to say that we’ve never seen a Star Wars production quite like it, and while fans of the franchise are clearly one of the intended audiences for these productions, the general public will find that there’s definitely something to report here. At least one of the nine episodes offered by this second season!

Season two of the animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions is now available on Disney+.
