Last night’s sad news clearly shocked and saddened Plus belle la vie fans and actors alike: Michelle Cordes has died at the age of 77.
Roland Marc’s interpreter in France 3’s daily series, which ended on November 18 after 18 seasons, was found dead of a gunshot wound this Friday, May 5, at his home in Grabel, near Montpellier, in Hérault. According to Midi Libre, an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of his death.
Shocked by the death of the man who had been a pillar of Plus belle la vie for almost twenty years, his former partners, including Pierre Marteau (Leo), Fabien Carat (Samiya), Jérôme Bertin (Patrick) Rebecca Hampton (Céline), Stephanie Pareja (Jeanne), or even Sarah Mortensen (Coral) quickly shared their grief on social networks and paid tribute to their friend and compatriot.
“Through the character of Roland, millions of people recognized you as a father, a grandfather, a friend, a brother! You were the living embodiment of something very deep in this country – that’s why people loved you so much.”writes Pierre Marto, Leo Castelli’s translator, in a very touching message accompanied by Michel Cordes and his photo taken in 2004, at the beginning of the adventure of a more beautiful life.
“It was easy to play comedy with you: you knew men well,” he continued. “Your character had the same name as my dad! I never imagined you’d be gone so soon! I loved being with you Michelle”.

Sara Mortensen, the first interpreter of Coralie Blaine, who has since become one of the two stars of Astrid and Rafael, meanwhile emphasized the voice, kindness, smile or even good nature of her former partner’s more beautiful life. While Fabien Carat, who left the adventure in 2021 shortly before the end, also highlighted many of Michel Cordes’ qualities in a very emotional Instagram post.
“Because you loved to laugh, because you had this eternal youth of spirit. Because you also shared with us all your life experiences as a man and as an artist. Because you were whole, sensitive and fiery. Because you were the icon of our series, of all the actors Svet and Dad. Because you loved life so much”he wrote, before admitting that like many people yesterday, he did not believe the announcement of Michelle Cordes’ death.
“Because trials, too many trials, bring down too many pure, free spirits and kind souls. Because you were a rock, because you passed on your passion for words, vessels, and authenticity. Because you were passionate, in love, because you didn’t believe me, because I You love me and we love you too.

Laurent Cerusore, aka Thomas March, certainly unable to put into words at the moment the grief he feels after the death of his fictional father, was content to publish a black square to testify his pain and pay tribute to Roland’s translator. Until Jérôme Bertin burst into uncertainty and emotion.
“No!!! I don’t want this terrible news”said the man who played Patrick Nebut for many seasons of Plus belle la vie. “I don’t want to believe that you’re already gone. I don’t want to mourn. I don’t want to! I get the impression that tonight who knew, did, watched, loved Plus belle. la vie are orphans”.
“Michel, our national Roland, is like a father to all of us. Always the child’s mischievous look that he kept in him and at the same time this cheerful wisdom, his smile and this voice, this voice that rings in each one. We seem to be saying goodbye tonight. Goodbye Michel. Goodbye my dear , my tender Michel, a false murmur, and a good one indeed. Laugh in peace.”.

A touching and well-deserved shower of tributes to someone who was an iconic figure in the France 3 soap opera was also celebrated this morning. Message from Newen Studioswho produced Plus belle la vie through his company Telfrance: “It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of actress Michelle Cordes. Plus an iconic figure in Belle La Vie for over 18 years as Roland March, Michelle was a talented actress, passionate and beloved by her community”.
