Would you like to see a Star Wars movie directed by James Gunn?
It doesn’t take a Marvel MCU expert to realize that the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) is in love with American popular culture. His “mixtapes” of music on the Walkman attest to this, as well as the references to cult films and actors that he unleashes when you least expect it, leaving some aliens confused who, obviously, have no idea what he is talking about.
His fascination with pop culture has reached almost obsessive extremes (ask Kevin Bacon).but there is a galactic franchise with which he has a lot in common that has not yet been mentioned by the Marvel character, although everything seemed to indicate that Peter would be a great fan… And this has been confirmed by Pratt himself.
In a round of questions and answers on Twitter, a fan asked Pratt if his character would have been a fan of the Star Wars movies if they existed in his universe, to which the actor replied that “Of course I would have been a fan… His whole life is based on emulating his pop culture icons and of course he would have been a huge Star Wars fan. And I think Han Solo in particular would have been a big influence on who he ends up being. So yes certainly there’s a lot of Han Solo in the Star-Lord character”.

We have just experienced May 4th, Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you), and James Gunn also did not want to miss the opportunity to remember how much Star Wars influenced him in his childhood and how he tried to make his spirit present in his ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ trilogy:
11 years ago I had a meeting with Marvel Studios about the possibility of doing a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I remember driving home & thinking I didn’t want to make a movie LIKE Star Wars, but a movie that made people FEEL like Star Wars made me feel as a kid. Outlandish… pic.twitter.com/xiCnJOTf7c

“11 years ago I had a meeting with Marvel Studios about the possibility of doing a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I remember driving home and thinking that I didn’t want to make a movie LIKE Star Wars, but a movie that made people FEEL like Star Wars made me feel like a kid. Quirky characters, extraordinary locations, a space opera with a touch of magic and full of heart. Thank you, Star Wars, for inspiring me and how appropriate it is that the third part of our trilogy opens in theaters around the world tonight on May 4th. #MayThe4thBeWithYou #GotGVol3″.
Who knows, maybe after his trilogy at Marvel and his time as chief of operations for the new restructuring of the DC cinematic universe… What would you think of James Gunn in Star Wars??
