‘The Paper House: Korea (Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area Part 1)’ It will premiere on Netflix on June 24and the platform has unveiled its trailer in which we are presented with an argument that sounds familiar to us… Although with some changed details.
A group of thieves, including Tokyo and Berlinjoins under the leadership of the ‘Professor‘, the brains of the operation, to plan an unprecedented heist: Steal money that doesn’t exist yet.
So far, all the same. The twist of the next Netflix series will come along with the new location. The plot will focus on a dystopian present in which the two Koreas are in the process of reunification, and the common “mint” is located in a Joint Security Area on the border between the two countries.. This institution is in charge of procuring a new currency that will be used in the next unified territory, in the face of complaints from the population who see how the change, as always, will only benefit the highest incomes.
The security forces that will have to confront the group of thieves will be commanded by a South Korean negotiation specialist and a North Korean agent.
This adaptation has been directed by Kim Hong Sum and written by Ryu Yong-jaewho stated “I was intrigued by the premise of the new version because it is not only about the conflict between robbers and policemen, but also adds new layers like tension, mistrust and harmony between North and South Korea”.
“It is a situation where North and South Korean thieves join forces, and North and South police join hands to stop their path, adding a Korean lens to the original Spanish franchise.”
The preview also highlights fan-favorite characters: the Professor played by Yoo ji-tae, Tokyo played by Jung Jong-seo and Berlin played by Park Hae-soo from ‘The Squid Game’all wearing the iconic red jumpsuits and traditional Hahoe masks, replacing Dali’s originals.

A few months ago, Netflix also announced a spin off of the Spanish series centered on Berlin and starring Pedro Alonsowhich would arrive on the platform in 2023.
