Santos is wary of buying Soteldo; understand the situation

Yeferson Soteldo’s loan deal with Santos is coming to an end. The attacking midfielder was loaned out by Tigres, Mexico, until the end of June this year, with the option to buy. Peixe’s board, however, has not yet defined the player’s future.

The fixed value is 4 million dollars (almost R$ 20 million at current exchange rates). As determined by Gazzetta dello Sport, the club’s idea is to wait until the last minute to decide whether or not to buy the 25-year-old athlete. Alvinegro Praiano has until 4 July to respond to foreigners.

That’s because, in addition to concerns about other issues surrounding Vila Belmiro, Soteldo has struggled to score a sequel. Since he returned to the club on 11 August 2022, he has suffered three injuries, two to the muscle and one to the shoulder.

Thus, the attacking midfielder sums only 15 games and three assists in nine months at Peixe.

Despite the short time on the pitch, Santos understands that he is a differentiated player and that there are no athletes with the same characteristics on the market. For the club, 4 million dollars is not a high figure for the number 10, on the contrary.

It is worth mentioning that the purchase is not mandatory. Santos would only be obliged to keep Soteldo if he had played 50% of the games since his return.

At the moment Soteldo is passing on the lawn with physiotherapy, he still trains individually. The number 10 is recovering from a minor injury to the back of his left thigh.

The expectation is that the Venezuelan will be available again on May 20, in the classic against Palmeiras. First, however, he will be judged by the STJD for his red card in the 1-0 defeat against Grêmio, in the first round of Nacional. the attacking midfielder can take a hook for up to six games.
