The BBC premieres the first dating reality show featuring gay men looking for a girlfriend

‘I Kissed a Boy’ aims to prove that true love exists in a community marked by disposable sex

The UK’s first gay dating reality show, ‘I Kissed a Boy’ hosted by Dannii Minogue premiered on BBC Three.

Ten men of different body types and personalities were brought together in heavenly settings in Italy.

The idea is to stimulate passion among ordinary homosexuals who are really looking for a serious relationship.

Among the participants there are some effeminates, a profile subject to discrimination in a community that contradictorily overestimates the stereotypical posture of the heterosexual.

“This reality show is not a room full of Ken and Barbie dolls,” contestant Gareth Graham, 28, told the broadcaster’s website.

The search for the “macho man” forces millions of gays to end the night at the disco and, many times, life in solitude. There just isn’t enough “standard guy” for so much demand.

The program also aims to combat the collective notion that homosexuals only seek sex, never love. The direction wants to highlight feelings, not just eroticism.

“We are not promiscuous, evil creatures to be feared,” Gareth says. “We have real life stories and real feelings. We want to love like anyone else.

You can follow the reality show on the BBC video platform, the traditional public channel that makes the British proud.

In Brazil, MTV’s “De Férias com o Ex” had gay contestants in a relationship, or rather, a kiss. The focus of the attraction was straight couples.

One of the first initiatives to encourage romantic love between men on television occurred in the extinct ‘Beija Sapo’, with Daniella Cicarelli, on the same channel, in the mid-2000s.

In ‘Big Brother Brazil 20’, Victor Hugo, who claimed to be asexual, was heavily criticized for having fueled a platonic passion for Guilherme Napolitano, declaring heterosexual.
