The KION online cinema hosted the premiere of the film “Doctor” directed by Artem Temnikov, the main feature of which was the winner of the Silver Bear of the Berlin Film Festival Sergey Puskepalis, who tragically died in an accident last year. This is a touching full-length film about the lack of love in the modern world and self-sacrifice. In addition to Puskepalis, Olga Tsirsen, Igor Chernevich, Veronika Ustimova and Elena Susanina played in the film.
The film was based on the book “Doctor X and His Children” by Maria Anufrieva, who also had a hand in the script. At the open Russian festival of author’s cinema “Winter” “Doctor” received a prize for the best script. The organizers awarded the posthumous special prize to Sergei Puskepalis. The film was also awarded the Athvikvaruni International Film Festival in the nomination “Best Foreign Film” and was awarded the Audience Choice Award.
The plot of the tape takes place in the psycho-neurological department of the hospital. Very different children lie here in one ward: one completely went into the world of virtual reality of computer games, decided that he had ceased to be a man and turned into a Creature, another boy from a prosperous family, did not want to live and tried to jump out of the balcony, and the third is simply silent and hates everyone.
How to reach out to their hearts, find the root cause of the evil that has settled in their souls, convince them that life itself is worth not giving up, but appreciating every moment? These tasks are solved by Dr. Khristoforov, a man with a big heart that aches for others. He questions previously made diagnoses, overcomes bureaucratic problems, his own problems and doubts, the resistance of young patients, misunderstanding of a loved one – the head of the hospital, Margarita. Dr. Khristoforov does everything to help his little patients…
