The case occurred on Monday evening (15) at the Lauro Reus hospital, in Campo Bom. This Tuesday (16) he obtained the provisional release, but will be investigated for damage to public property.

On Monday night (15), an individual was arrested in the act in Campo Bom, in Vale dos Sinos, after throwing a chair against the glass of a counter in the Lauro Reus hospital. Patients awaiting treatment at the venue were temporarily evacuated from the lobby during the incident.

The Municipal Guard of Campo Bom was called around 19:45 to deal with the situation. According to reports from the agents, the man, whose identity was not disclosed, tried to justify his gesture by claiming that he had been infected with Covid-19 and that the service was taking a long time.

After the incident, the Lauro Reus hospital issued a statement condemning the violence against its employees and reaffirming its commitment to a humane environment. The director of the Municipal Guard, Emerson Edinei Lopes, reported that the man received treatment in the presence of the team and that he underwent a test for Covid-19, the result of which was negative. Hospital officials also denied negligent care, according to officers.

The 40-year-old individual was taken to the Campo Bom police station, where the gesture was recorded. According to the delegate Rodrigo Câmara, in charge of the police station, he was released on bail this Tuesday (16). Now he will be investigated for damage to public assets in an investigation to be launched by the Civil Police.
