Gabriel Pirani praises Fluminense’s performance for drawing with one down

The midfielder was starting in place of Alexsander, who was injured, and said that the Tricolor was able to resist the pressure from Flamengo

Since the draw between Fluminense and Flamengo last Tuesday in Alexsander’s absence, midfielder Gabriel Pirani has analyzed the match against Rubro-Negro and praised the performance of his teammates. According to the athlete, Tricolor managed to resist the pressure to stay alive in the competition.

– They came with great desire for what happened in the final (Campionato Carioca), and we knew how to resist. A team that wants to be a champion must know how to resist. Our team was safe and we were able to withstand their pressure,” Pirani said.

When asked about the conversation Fernando Diniz had with the players after seeing the initial pressure from Flamengo, Pirani commented that the coach asked for more concentration. The player also criticized the referee, who didn’t award any yellow card to Flamengo even with more than 20 fouls committed.

– He asked us to maintain focus and increase the intensity. They have committed many fouls and have not received a yellow card. He asked to have concentration so as not to take any more risks.

Pirani said the result was not satisfactory, but that in the context of the match, with Fluminense down one player, the score ended up being a good size. The 21-year-old also said that the motto of fans towards players is true.

– It would be satisfactory if we won, but we understand the direction the match has taken. We are a team of warriors, even with ten players we managed to play, Santos had to work… We were able to bear and understand the game and we consider the result positive.

During the first half, Gabriel Pirani often acted as a sort of lateral assistant, having to guard Wesley’s climbs on the right side. In assessing him, the athlete said that he managed to do what was expected.

– We knew that Wesley would support a lot and we hoped that Santos would look for teams. I tried to come back all the time and I think I was good at it.
