Alien vs Predator: You’ll probably never see the Netflix series, and the reason is annoying!

Ever since we heard about the animated series Alien vs. Predator, the continuation of the famous film franchise, which pitted two of the most famous monsters in the history of cinema against each other.

And while that radio silence could indicate that the series ultimately didn’t see the light of day, former 20th Century FOX licensing manager Joshua Izzo — a guest on the American podcast Perfect Organism Podcast – it was revealed that the project was not only completed, but also fully completed (“Everything is in the box, the mix is done, everything is done”) before its broadcast was finally blocked.

The idea of the project was to produce content completely independent of the film license, intended for the video market. This was to allow the franchise to grow without having to wait for a new movie to hit theaters (the Alien Covenant feature film was still in development at the time).

In the following ideas

Disney’s takeover of the FOX company seems to have led to a change in strategy, which explains the cancellation of this project originally for Netflix. We imagine that Disney preferred to cancel the broadcast of the series in order to prioritize original productions intended for its own platform, Disney +.

Prey, the Predator feature film prequel, has already seen the light of day, and the live-action Alien series is currently in production. No doubt the company also has cinematic ambitions for these two franchises.

Also keep in mind that Sigourney Weaver has confirmed that she won’t be reprising her role as Ellen Ripley after the cancellation of the Alien 5 project that Neill Blomkamp (District 9) was supposed to do.

All movies in the Predator and Alien franchises can be seen on Disney+.
