Quentin Tarantino Announces Death of DiCaprio’s Character Rick Dalton in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

In memory of Rick Dalton. His life and especially his work, even if fictitious. Quentin Tarantino never ceases to feed the imagination with his film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which was presented at Cannes four years ago.

This weekend you may have seen this amazing announcement: the death of the main character of his movie, played by Leonardo DiCaprio – who works very well, thanks to him.

In a promotional message for his podcast The Video Archives, which he co-hosts with Roger Evaris, Tarantino announced that Rick Dalton had died at the age of 90.

“We are saddened to learn of the passing of actor Rick Dalton, best known for his roles in the hit series Bounty Law and the Fireman trilogy. Rick passed away peacefully at his home in Hawaii with his wife Francesca by his side. RIP Rick Dalton: 1933-2023.”

QT even wrote it in large print on the billboard at his movie theater, the New Beverly:

The character really inspired the filmmaker, who even dedicated a book to him, as he explained in 2021 Another podcast hosted by Jeff Goldsmith. “It’s written as if Ricky was real. Just like those books on filmography Charles Bronson orAnthony Quinn.

On this model is written a brief summary of each work and even excerpts from reviews of the time. The book chronicles all of Ricky’s films, going all the way up to the end of his career in 1988, I believe. It also features every episode of his TV show.”

The next podcast from The Video Archives will be devoted entirely to this late fictional character, looking back at his filmography and favorite roles. We can’t wait to hear it.
