‘Willow‘: Release date
After years of rumours, promises of sequels and stagnant scripts, the push of the streaming channel has led to the miracle and, finally, the series ‘Willow‘ has a premiere date of November 30 exclusively on Disney +.
‘Willow‘: Synopsis
The series will take place years after the events of the film and will introduce us to new characters in this enchanted kingdom with fairies, witches and two-headed monsters.
“The story begins with an aspiring wizard in a Nelwyn village and a girl destined to unite the kingdoms, who helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness,” explains the official synopsis. Now, in a magical world where brownies, wizards, trolls and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues. ‘Willow’, a group of heroes will have to go on a dangerous quest traveling places beyond their home, facing their inner demons and banding together to save their world.”
‘Willow‘: Equipment
Jon M Chu (‘Now you see me 2’, ‘Crazy Rich Asians’) has been in charge of directing a series that transports us to the universe of that film and has had Jonathan Casdan Y Wendy Mericle What showrunners.
“I grew up in the ’80s and Willow had a profound impact on me,” Chu acknowledges. “The story of the bravest heroes in the most unlikely places allowed me, an Asian-American boy growing up in a Chinese restaurant and dreaming of going to Hollywood, to believe in the power of our will, our determination and, of course, , in the magic that is inside all of us. So having the opportunity to work with my heroes, from Kathleen Kennedy to Ron Howard, is beyond a dream come true, it’s on my particular wish list. Jon Kasdan and Wendy Mericle have added surprisingly innovative characters and wonderful surprises to this timeless story that I look forward to sharing with viewers around the world.”
Ron Howarddirector of the movie that started it all, will executive produce the series alongside Bob Dolmanscreenwriter of the original script, who acts as consulting producer.
“Revisiting the world and characters that George Lucas, Bob Dolman and I originally conceived is not only a wonderful creative challenge. It’s also very exciting to see him take flight in such a fresh, fun and cinematic way thanks to the imagination of Jon Kasdan and the team at Willow,” says Howard. “This is not an exercise in nostalgia. It is rather a step forward on a creative level and it is a great privilege to be part of this great project”.
‘Willow‘: cast
How could it be otherwise, good old Willow Ufgood will be played once again by the great Warwick Davis.
“Fans have been asking me about Willow’s return for years, so I’m happy to tell them we’re going to do it,” says Davis. “Many of them have told me that they grew up with ‘Willow’ and that the film has influenced how they fit heroism into our world. If Willow Ufgood brings out the heroic potential that lies within all of us, then I would be extremely honored to reprise this character.”
