The government authorizes the release of R$1.2 billion in amendments at a critical moment in Congress

OR Ministry of Health authorized, this Monday 22, the release of more than R$ 1.2 billion in individual parliamentary amendments. The information comes from the newspaper Folha de São Paulo.

The decision comes at a time when the federal government is under pressure from lawmakers to send more funds, as well as experiencing a critical situation in the national Congress, where it needs to get important votes, such as the new fiscal framework.

For the year 2023, the federal budget has a reserve of R$ 21.2 billion to be allocated to individual deputies and senators. Of this total, R$11.3 billion is for healthcare use.

As of last Friday 19, the folder had already released R$ 1.15 billion for individual amendments.

The description of the allocation of the amount authorized this Monday was published in the Official Gazette. The authorizations are divided into nine ordinances and the list of authorized authors of the amendments will be available on government websites when the funds are committed, i.e. released.

Compared to the previous government, in 2022, by the end of May, former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) had committed BRL 11.9 billion in amendments, including individual amendments, state benches and National Congress committees. This year, the Lula government has committed about R$ 1.8 billion, up to the 19th of this month.

Senator Mara Gabrili (PSD-SP) is the one who has had the highest volume of individual amendments ever committed so far: R$ 30.7 million. And the PT is the most advantaged party, with R$ 214.7 million already released.
