An injured kitten was abandoned by its guardian in Novo Hamburgo, in Vale dos Sinos, metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. The sad scene was caught on a security camera, revealing the exact moment the animal’s handler left him on the street and walked away without looking back.
The situation was identified by the owner of a pet shop, who decided to act immediately, rescuing the feline and providing first aid.

In Porto Alegre, reports of animal abuse must be sent to the town hall via 156. The General Directorate of Inspection is called and, together with a veterinarian from the GCA, goes to the place of the report. In serious cases, the Civil Police takes action. Some Police Headquarters (2nd, 5th, 15th and 19th) have notary offices specialized in the investigation of crimes of ill-treatment and animal abuse.
