Netflix’s most unwanted feature has arrived in Brazil: starting today, password sharing starts to be paid for in Brazil. The provision has also been adopted in the United States and provides that a season ticket can only be shared between people who live in the same household.
What Netflix says
Your Netflix account is for you and the people who live with you.
It’s now possible to manage how these logins are used with the new tools that are coming here – and yes, you can watch as normal when you’re away or travelling.https://t.co/j2WajzOSKg

Context
The company had already announced that it would take this measure. The date for this, however, has arrived earlier than we imagined: although it was scheduled for the second quarter of 2023, the deadline was until June 30th.
The action comes because Netflix has estimated that around 100 million households share passwords with third parties. By forcing the charge, the hope is to generate new subscriptions or more revenue from additional accounts.
The measure also took place in the United States
The same payment measure for shared passwords was implemented today (23) in the United States. The extra subscriptions will be $7.99 over there, and according to Netflix, devices that don’t comply will be blocked after a while.
Other countries
Password sharing charges began earlier this year in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain. In these countries, the company requires users to set a “primary location”.
For Standard or Premium plan subscribers, Streaming offers the option to purchase an extra member. With this extra account, up to two people who don’t live in the main office will be able to create their own profile.
