‘May December’ is the latest film from the director of titles like ‘Carol’, ‘Far from Heaven’, ‘Poison (Poison)’ and ‘Velvet Goldmine’. It premiered last Saturday to acclaim and received a six-minute ovation.

In it, Moore plays a woman whose husband (Charles Melton) is much younger than her. When they both fall in love, he was only 13 years old. Given the 20-year age difference, her marriage has, in the past, caused a national scandal in the tabloid press. Decades later, their relationship is put to the test when an actress (Portman) travels to Georgia to study the life of Moore’s character, whom she is to play in a movie.

“An age difference is one thing, but a relationship between an adult and a child is something else entirely.” Moore commented at the film’s press conference. “The reason why this movie feels dangerous to watch is because people don’t know where the limits are. it’s scary.”

The script for the film has been developed by Samy Burch, following a story he wrote with Alex Mechanik.

During his time in Cannes, Haynes also provided information on several of his future projects. One of them, starring Joaquin Phoenix, will revolve around a homosexual love story. The actor has also participated in the development of the film’s script. In addition, Haynes is preparing a serial fiction, starring Kate Winslet, in collaboration with HBO.
