Deltan calls for demonstrations against the ‘system that enslaves’ and the ‘casse mandate’

The parliamentarian made the summons before meeting the president of the STF to discuss the appeal judgment against the decision that impeached him

BRASÍLIA – The accused deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) used the green room of the Chamber on Wednesday 24 to call demonstrations on June 4 against what he called the ‘political system that wants to enslave’ the country.

“We now have mandates impeachment from a political system that wants to silence and enslave us,” Deltan said. “I’m not joining this call just as a summons, but as one asking us to position ourselves in Brazil for what we believe in,” she added.

The parliamentarian, however, did not communicate the places and times of these acts. His advisers said the details of the mobilization would be up to right-wing anti-corruption social movements, which backed Deltan after the unanimous impeachment by the Higher Electoral Court (TSE). The call was made before the impeached deputy met with the president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Rosa Weber, who is responsible for leading her appeal against the Electoral Tribunal’s decision.

The announcement of street demonstrations in defense of the reinstatement of Deltan’s mandate was organized by movements such as Fora Corrupção, Ranking dos Politicos and Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL). The organizations summoned the press on the grounds that Deltan would grant an interview, but at the end of the speech the former deputy refused to answer journalists’ questions.

Deltan was unanimously impeached by TSE ministers on the 16th of this month for violating articles of the Clean Record Law which prevented the candidacy of members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office who asked to resign before their disciplinary proceedings were judge yourself.

According to the impeached deputy, his case and other events that have taken place in Brazilian politics in recent years have been “a big reaction from the corrupt system” to Lava Jato.

“The people who hold power in Brazil, in Brasilia, in the states and in the municipalities have recovered their positions, their position of power and today they are reacting against us. They enslave us,” said Deltan.

With placards in defense of “justice, democracy and freedom” in the country, Deltan and allied MPs, such as Marcel Van Hattem (and Rosangela Moro (União Brasil-PR), demonstrated against what the accused deputy described as “censorship to quote the TSE, he complained that posts are being removed from social networks, but did not comment on the content of these posts.
