Last week on TF1, Grey’s Anatomy lost star Ellen Pompeo, aka Meredith Grey. From the very first episode of 2004, in the credits of the medical series created by Shonda Rhimes, the actress decided to leave the blouse in the dressing room after 19 seasons of good and faithful service.
Bye Meredith…
With so many departures over the years, how can the show still thrive despite the departure of its main cast? It’s true that virtually all of Grey’s Anatomy’s intrigue has more or less revolved around Meredith… but fiction has proven time and time again that she can reinvent herself!
Meredith’s moving exit will allow the other doctors at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital to exist more clearly and develop more in future storylines. The dynamic will change and some strong characters who have become purdahs (Bailey (Chandra Wilson, who answered questions for AlloCiné), Teddy, Link, Maggie, etc.) will thus step out of their comfort zone thanks to the authors.
In addition, the arrival of new trainees remains the main asset of Season 19. Simone, Blue, Jules, Mika, and Lucas form a group of five newbies reminiscent of the first five Grey’s Anatomy trainees (Meredith, Alex, Cristina, Izzy, and George) while remaining original.
“Grey’s Anatomy”: stop or again?
As sparkling and charming as their elders, the med students’ integration into the world of the series is done with great fluidity, unlike the previous generation of interns. The juxtaposition and interplay with older works is remarkable, with humor and drama in the pure DNA of fiction.
Old faces soon return, starting with Addison, played wonderfully by Kate Walsh. And we’d love for it to stay in Seattle forever, because that clever mix between Grey’s Anatomy’s past and present-day is a perfect match there, too.
In the past, the show has had more or less long rest periods. Because of this, some viewers were lost along the way…but fans who stuck around for two decades were always rewarded: Grey’s Anatomy has consistently managed to rekindle the interest of its faithful through the accuracy of its themes. applied and thanks to its excellent efficiency.
Indestructible, Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for a 20th season. One thing’s for sure, though: Ellen Pompeo will finally say goodbye to Meredith at the end of the season in a bittersweet finale! Don’t miss it on TF1, every Wednesday from 21:10.
