Marina Silva says that the stay in the ministry is Lula’s decision and signals support for the PT


The minister denies rumors that he could leave the government and signals a crisis of articulation with Congress

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silvaclosed the week by confirming his stay in the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, with whom he had a meeting this Friday afternoon 26. “The first person to say who is staying and who is leaving is President Lula, whom he invites,” he said. He also signaled support for PT.




The minister’s statements were released during an interview with CNN Brasil. “The best way to help government is to be within government, to make policies to fight deforestation and sustainable development feasible. We have 19 ministries with an agenda for climate, bioeconomy,” he said.

Rumors that Marina may leave the government arose due to the approval of the report by the commission evaluating the Deputies of Ministries. Four PT MPs voted in favor of the text, which abolishes the management of National Water Agency (ANA) and the Rural Environmental Register (CAR). The minister did not provide details of the conversation he had with the president, but signaled support for the PT. When asked about United Nations Framework Convention on Climate ChangeTHE COP-30Marina replied that the fact that the 2025 event will be held in Belém do Pará “is a victory for President Lula”.
