“Bridderton” It has become a global hit since its premiere and although the third season will arrive soon, Netflix gave fans the spin-off of “Queen Charlotte”, which is already placed among the favorite contents of this 2023.
Netflix series ‘Queen Charlotte’ did not reflect real hallucinations suffered by King George
Some time ago we explained one of the Historical errors seen in the plot of ‘Queen Charlotte’but apparently there is another one that left the public unhappy and it has to do with King George.
The Queen’s husband is known to be suffering from an apparent mental illness that has become more severe over time to such an extent that he does not immediately recognize Charlotte and has uncontrollable manic episodes.
However, it seems that the Netflix series was limited by not revealing the worst of his hallucinations, which historians say were chilling.
The Queen Charlotte chapters explore how the king initially tried to hide his condition from his wife and better manage her so that he could be present both at court and in her life on his own.
The hallucinations he lives in turn out to be not so dark in the series, as in real life King George experienced mood swings and said he was constantly talking to people who had died, whom he thought had died, or even angels.
In his visions, the monarch came to “interact with his dead children” as Princess Amelia, who died aged 27 in 1810, but in “Queen Charlotte” this is replaced when it appears that the protagonist believes he sees the goddess Aphrodite in the palace garden.
His untimely death and the pain he caused the king make this vision one of the most tragic hallucinations he experienced in real life.
Although in “Queen Charlotte” in one scene King George asks about his daughter and his wife reminds him that she died gracefully, it does not reflect the true ravages of his mental illness and how slowly he began to lose his memory.
This little detail divided the series’ followers, because while some think it did a good job revealing a little more information about the monarch’s condition, others think it’s nowhere near what he went through in real life.
