While the first Terrifier movie was released to general indifference, the second opus caused a lot of ink (and not only…) due to its ultra-gritty scenes.
Released in US theaters in October 2022, Terrifier 2 caused an extreme reaction with some viewers being sick and vomiting. The specialized press quickly spread this information and the film became a “ritual” for fans of horror cinema.
The feature film, prohibited for children under 16, tells the story of Art the Clown. After being resurrected by an evil organization, the latter returns to the town of Miles County, where he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night.
Faced with this phenomenon, the distributor ESC Films decided to release the film in French cinemas in January 2023. Horror 2 Thus, it saw 70,939 viewers in France for a limited release of 90 prints.
Damien Leone’s B-movie grossed $15 million worldwide (compared to the first installment’s $76,376). With a budget of $250,000, Terrifier 2 was a true surprise success.
Today we learn that the third opus of the adventures of the killer clown Art is soon to see the light of day. Writer/director Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone return to continue the franchise with David Howard Thornton, who plays Art the Clown, and Lauren Lavera (Sienna).
French distribution company The Coven will produce and says the film is already attracting interest from international buyers.
