this is wonderful! It is coming out in cinemas today. Directed by Clovis Cornillac, who also plays the lead role, the feature film is a tender and poetic film about benevolence.
Three years after shooting the last chapter of Belle et Sébastien, actor and director Clovis Cornillac returns with C’est magnificient !, a fantastic comedy that will hit theaters this Wednesday.
In the feature film, Kornilak portrays Pierre, a forty-year-old teenager who has always lived far away from the disorder of the universe, among its bees and hibiscus. When his parents disappear, his whole world turns upside down: he discovers that he is adopted and must learn to survive in a modern society he has never known.
Determined to unravel the mystery of her origins, she crosses Anna, played by Alice Paul, who agrees to help her. But as he moves forward in the investigation, Pierre disappears as if by magic.
Nominated for the Last Comedy Festival at the Alpe d’Huez and the 2021 Angouleme Festival, the feature film originated at the behest of Clove Cornilak, again working with his partner, actor and screenwriter Lilu Fogli, and screenwriter Tristan Schulman shortly after. Many, came out blindly in 2015.
The film director explains in the press kit: “I gave them an idea: a story that allowed me to talk about identity and a character-chameleon that would merge completely instinctively into any society, so that I would not know who it is.
What determines it is its benevolence and simplicity: it improves beings and situations only in its presence, it brings a positive light to its attitude. (…) So it all started with this idea of search, kindness, identity. “

So the trio wrote a story about this man who never challenged modern society. Throughout the writing they wanted to focus on the latter’s view of the world in order to allow the viewer to marvel at our community.
The director recalls:We ask ourselves, “What does he see in this world? What does it seem absurd to him?” Then Lilu and Tristan thought it was losing color and I was thrilled!
What surprised me was that I thought it had something to do with the history of cinema, almost the opposite of the history of photography – it becomes sepia, then black and white, and finally transparent.
There was this fundamental idea that the main thing is not what we are, but what we become. And since this is an organic film and not a psychoanalytic one, I found it interesting because it answered what I wanted to study from the beginning.. “
This is the fourth collaboration between Clove Cornilak and Ali Paul after the insane desire of 2010, L’Aventure des Marguerite (2018) and Si on chantait, which was released in November last year. They are surrounded Miriam Boyer, mother of Clovis Cornilack in town, Lilu Fogli, Alexandra Roth, Laurent Bato and young Manon Lemoine. Notice the presence of the actor’s 3 children, 21-year-old twins Lily and Alice and 9-year-old Nino.
