In interviews Roberta Close stated that she moved to Switzerland for political reasons, as she did not feel safe in Brazil. “It was a political immigration, because in my country I didn’t have the things I had abroad, like marriage, documents…”, he revealed in the podcast Talking parrotby Sergio Mallandro.
During the conversation, the former model also spoke about her solid marriage with businessman Roland Granacher. “We have been married for 30 years. We met, he was very in love with me, and I with him. We tried to come to Brazil, then we came back again. My husband is my biggest fan. Now he is in America, he speaks perfect Portuguese. At first it was difficult for us to communicate,” she said.
Roberta also took stock of the weight of the fame she carries with her to this day. “I always knew I would pay a very high price for this. I had already left Brazil, taken photos and paraded around. So I knew there was another way to live abroad – and that’s what I did. It’s been 30 years since I left Brazil.”
