Pair of cariocas with Belarusians, who train in Rio de Janeiro, lost to 3 seeds
Athletes from the Rio Tennis Academy, Rio de Janeiro, Ingrid Martins from Rio de Janeiro and Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich were beaten this Saturday in the second round of doubles at Roland Garros.
The two fell to the third seeded pair of Belgian Elise Mertens and Australian Storm Hunter 7/6 (7/4) 6/1 after 1h32min.
The duo from Rio de Janeiro and Belarus took a 5-3 lead and had points set in the early part, but ended up succumbing to the favourites.
It was the first time for the two in a Grand Slam. Ieryna had also come through qualifying in singles where she picked up her biggest win, against top 100 player Panna Udvardy, and stopped at world number two, Aryna Sabalenka.
