Bruno Mezenga says he understands the fans’ protests in Vila Belmiro: ‘We played for Santos, a great team’

Peixe occupies the twelfth position in the Brazilian championship

Santos, this Saturday evening (03), drew at home with Internacional 1-1, in a match valid for the 9th round of the Brazilian championship. Peixe dominated most of the match, but failed in the final and went off the pitch booed in Vila Belmiro. Bruno Mezenga, who came on for Deivid Washington at half-time, commented on the crowd’s reaction after the final whistle.

– We know the pressure, we played for Santos, a great team. The fans want us to win at home. We have to do our part. We worked well to do our part, unfortunately the victory didn’t come – commented the striker on the SporTV channel

Peixe saw Colorado open the scoring just two minutes after the start, after a failure by the defensive duo. A few minutes later, Lucas Lima hit a beautiful free kick and equalized the duel.

In the second phase, Santos was superior to his rival, dominating the actions in midfield, but failed to convert the superiority into goals. In an interview on the pitch, the number 88 praised the team’s dedication and the fact that the team was undefeated in Vila Belmiro in the Brasileirão.

– The team’s (positive) delivery remains. We deliver. We managed to play more, finish more. That’s it, missed the target. Keep working. In Vila we are still unbeaten, that’s important. Let’s try to work to find victories – completed the player.

Santos is back on the field next Tuesday (06), against Newell’s Old Boys (ARG), for the fifth round of the Copa Sudamericana. The ball rolls at 21:30 in Vila Belmiro.
