A fortnight of cinemas: Cannes films near you from 7 to 18 June

After two days in Cannes, two days in France! The 55th Quinzaine des Cinéastes, which ended a few days ago on the Croisette, extends the great celebration of auteur cinema, giving audiences in arthouse cinemas the opportunity to immerse themselves in the heart of its 2023 selection for ten days of discovery.

Thus, from June 7th to 18th, thirty of the event’s partner cinemas will screen works in selection across France, a few days after their first screening in Cannes. With the double ambition of the organizers: “Experience two days like a festival near you before the movies come out”And the cinema has put remembrance in the middle of its action “That it is and must remain the privileged place of the 7th art”.

Among the twenty feature films on offer, this national revival will be an opportunity to discover the awakening of sexuality of Creatura, Elena Martin’s first feature film awarded by the Europa Cinemas Label; Un prince by Pierre Creton, which describes the life of Pierre. – Joseph with the SACD prize at the training center; Where the Vietnamese film Golden Butterfly Tree by Anne Pham Tien, winner of the Camera d’Or award for best first film at Cannes, all selections are combined.

What is Quinzaine des Cinéastes?

Created in 1969 after the May 68 uprising, the Quinzaine des Cinéastes (formerly the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) offers screenings of all the world’s cinemas without censorship or competition. Every year, the event, organized by the SRF (Société des Réalisatrices et Réalisateurs de Films), presents a selection of films from around the world at the Cannes Film Festival.

Since its inception, this festival, completely independent of the official competition, has aimed to support filmmakers and promote their discovery by the public and critics. It is not only about revealing the new talents of world cinematography and the great cinematographers of tomorrow, but also about receiving artists who are still unknown in the West or are too often missed in the big international festivals.
