Vortex: The series with Tomer Sisley is already a hit on Netflix

In January of last year, France 2 aired a sci-fi mini-series by Tomer Sisli (Balthazar) and Camille Clarice on its Vortex antenna. This 6-episode drama created by Camille Couasse and Sarah Farkas, based on an idea by Franck Tilleys, was a real success for the channel, attracting an average of 3.56 million viewers according to Médiamétrie, or 17.9% of the public and 12.8. % FRDA-50.

Figures that probably convinced Netflix to acquire the rights to the series to give it international exposure. Just this Friday, June 2, subscribers of the American platform will be delighted to find Season 1 of Vortex. And in just a few days, the sci-fi series is already in the 8th place in France’s top consults.

Of course, this isn’t the first time a French terrestrial series has made its way to Netflix. We especially remember TF1 and Netflix co-production Les Combattantes and Le Bazar de la Charité, which was an immediate success on the American platform.

This second life of Vortex did not please Catherine Bernard, deputy managing director of France tv distribution, as she confided to Média+:Science fiction requires rare writing and directing qualities. Vortex combines all these qualities and it is a source of pride for France Télévisions to offer this ambitious series another life on Netflix.“.

The original science fiction series

In Vortex, Tomer Sisley plays Ludovic, a captain of the Brest judicial police who lost the love of his life, Melanie (Camille Clarice), 27 years ago in 1998. A young woman, the mother of their little girl Juliet, died in what appeared to be an accident.

But suddenly, thanks to a temporary rift that opens up at the crime scene reconstructed in virtual reality, Ludovic manages to communicate with Melanie. Then they have 11 days to save him.

Unfortunately, if he succeeds in his mission, Ludovic risks losing his life in the present, 2025, which he spent years building with his new wife Parvana (Zineb Trick) and son Sam.

During the investigation, the police officer discovers that a small change has disastrous consequences for his present. Is Ludovic willing to sacrifice everything to save Melanie? Will he choose to save his ex-wife even if it means losing the one he loves?
