‘The Lesser Evil’ Digital Premiere Date Announced

Online cinema KION has revealed the date of the premiere of Victor Shamirov’s witty conversational comedy The Lesser Evil. For the first time, service subscribers will see history in four characters — husband, wife, ex-lover of the wife and casual acquaintance of the lover — very soon, June 9th. The project will be released on the platform in two formats: a film and a mini-series of three episodes. The main roles in the tape were played by Alexey Rozin, Viktor Dobronravov, Polina Agureeva and Yulia Grevtsova.

Even though the project — this is a film adaptation of a play, I had no task to pretend that we are watching a play. The scenery is realistic — there are all four walls, the light is realistic, the behavior of the actors is adequate to the space, and not raised so that the last row can see and hear, as it happens in the theater. And in general, I hoped that the viewer would follow the life of the characters, and not the performance. But sometimes we remind about the conditionality of what is happening: the play has no plot resolution, only thematic, so this move is justified, – says director Viktor Shamirov about his work.

The plot tells about 40-year-old Vika (Polina Agureeva) and Max (Aleksey Rozin), who, after 15 years of marriage, have literally become one. There is only one thing missing from their ideal family life. — baby. However, the idyll is broken by a fateful evening when an old friend Pasha (Viktor Dobronravov) and a casual acquaintance Alice (Yulia Grevtsova) visit the couple.

Over a glass of wine, Max admits that he cannot have children, while his wife Vika is quite capable of this. Alice, without hesitation, offers Pasha to help her friends and become a sperm donor. An awkward proposal should change the lives of the heroes forever…
