Restricted to children under 16, this exploration of a schoolboy’s imagination is the sulphurous film of the month!

Directed by Julia Murat, Rule 34 refers to the famous Internet rule that if something exists, there is a porn version of it. The story follows Simone (Sol Miranda), a law student engaged in the fight against violence against women, and a camera at night that explores his masochistic fantasies.

With this story, Julia Murat wanted to create a character who is detached from the world, but gives the impression of an easy and close relationship with others. For a filmmaker, Simone has had a difficult life, experiencing various forms of oppression, and who still manages to find her way in a society that demands a lot from her.

“In a way, he created a barrier. He created a kind of wall between himself and the world, which allowed him to protect himself. And it is this wall that he tries to face today. Today. Even if that is not the reason. Why I created this world, I think these characteristics define What was I looking for when creating the character of Simon?he explains.

Origin of the project

Julia Murat first studied pornography in an interview with Sasha Grace. The American actress then explained that porn movies are about pushing your limits, both social, emotional and physical. Then Murat realized that these were values ​​that he could not only relate to his life, his desires, but also that he could understand and recognize.

“It was from this interview that Simone appeared. He tries to overcome his limits – all kinds of limits. For this, I decided to introduce the desire for violence”The director confides.

Because the filmmaker wanted Simone to push her limits, she decided to choose a subject in which she would also have to push her own limits. “So violence was added to the list. Now I have a film about a man who was willing to push the limits of his desire for violence.”– says Julia Murat.

Follow the actors and actresses

From the start of filming, the filmmaker and his team designed the set as a place to protect the actors. They created two different sets for the first time. The first one had all apartments and sex scenes. Not just sex scenes, but scenes with friends, scenes in the kitchen, scenes where she’s studying – all kinds of scenes.

In the second part of the set there were courts, bars, parties, that kind of scene. “We created two groups, and the idea of ​​the first one was to create a very, very small group. This small group took four weeks to shoot. Basically there was a photographer, one person for electrical systems, one person for production. and one person for the vote”– says the artist.

For Julia Murat, the idea was to create a defense for actors, and when the team arrived at law school, the landscape was very different.

“The result is a film in which moments of intimacy and nudity feel very natural, and where the actors have the space to immerse themselves in their characters. It’s an impressive piece of work, and we hope it goes beyond the festival circuit.”the director concluded.

Rule 34 landed in darkrooms on June 7.
