NCIS Sydney: The new spin-off is getting brighter in Australia

We started to lose hope… In February 2022, the Paramount+ streaming platform announced that NCIS: Special Investigations would get the rights to a new spin-off, led by Shane Brennan, creator and showrunner of NCIS: Los Angeles.

This first international iteration of the franchise, titled NCIS: Sydney, was to take place, as its name suggests, in Australia. But after that announcement, there was radio silence on the project. Even to the point where fans were starting to lose hope, they thought the series was abandoned. Still, NCIS: Sydney was quietly going its own way.

According to the information DailyMailThe first international spin-off of NCIS has been filming since early May in North Bond, a coastal suburb of Sydney. Locals spotted two comedians as well as a camera crew filming the scenes.

If at the moment, Paramount + has not been contacted about the casting of this new detective series, it seems that Tully Narkle and Sean Sagar are the two actors involved in the images published by the site. The latter, who was in the cast of Destiny: the Winx Saga, will star in Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. The film will be available on Amazon Prime Video on June 23.

Few details have been revealed about this new spin-off; Except that NCIS: Sydney will use Australian actors and producers and follow local investigations. The series is expected to launch in 2023 on Paramount+. It remains to be seen if the series will be offered in France at the same time, as the platform has been available there for several months.

NCIS, a strong brand for CBS

Despite its twenty-year existence, NCIS: Special Investigations continues to be one of the channel’s flagship series and remains one of the most-watched dramas on the network. So it’s no surprise that Gary Cole’s (Desperate Housewives) fiction was renewed for a 21st season this past February.

NCIS: Hawaii, the latest spin-off, has received a 3rd season. Meanwhile, NCIS: Los Angeles was canceled in January after 14 seasons and 322 episodes. Its final episode aired on May 21 in the United States.

Season 20 of NCIS is currently airing every Saturday night from 9.10pm on M6. Two new episodes follow NCIS Season 2: Hawaii.
