In the Thursday, June 8, 2023 episode of Here It All Begins on TF1, the truth finally comes out about Eugene… Indeed, the doctor is giving Hortense (Kathryn Davydzenka) bad drugs to weaken her and make her dependent on him! After this shocking revelation, will the Rochemont women be able to save their relationship?
For AlloCiné, Sophie Duez recalls her experience in the series on Page One, which airs Monday through Friday from 6:30 p.m. to…
AlloCiné: Why did Eugenie poison Hortense in “This Is Where It All Begins”?
Sophie Duez: erminepoison” is used by the people behind the story, but does not match Eugene’s gesture. He actually made sure he could get his daughter back from him because he had a crushing existential need to be with Hortense at that point in his life.
But it wasn’t poisoning to kill or harm. He wanted to control his daughter’s condition and depend on her… because Eugene himself is in an emotional state that has completely taken him over!
Do you understand your character’s desperation?
Sometimes we act in life but we don’t know why we do things. That is what interested me in the role of Eugene. He came to the institute because of a human need, which was to distribute his love to his daughters, because he is in a desperate time with his divorce and so on.
He really felt he was doing good for him and Hortense. Also, when his daughters realize what he has done, he realizes that things are not going well.
Can his relationship with Hortense be mended?
completely. Revelation is not fair’Yes, I was manipulating you from the beginning and wanted to achieve my goals‘. No. Eugene tells himself that he needs to know why he did it. He admits that what he did is very serious.
I read in the character description from the beginning that this woman was adopted. When she gave birth to her first daughter, she found her identity. Then she had a second daughter who wasn’t really wanted and she wasn’t that attached because she felt one was too many. That’s why it was difficult for Vic, he thought that he could endure everything without him.
So he developed this special attachment to Hortense. When she repeats the abandonment when her husband leaves her, she turns because she has become attached to her boss and their rather mirrored relationship.
How did your collaboration with Catherine Davydzenka and Lou Ladegalerie go?
It is a small miracle that happened between us. Everything happened very fluidly and hyper-vibrationally. When we found ourselves together, we felt it was a match. They were very open about the fact that we could look for playthings together to go further.
We also talk outside. We had a real encounter, and I think it was fundamental not to introduce disembodied characters. We shared feelings.
Eugene had a strained relationship with Teysier. What did you think of his translator? Benjamin Baroch ?
We love working together! I remember the scene when Tessier had to overcome Eugene, but we didn’t want to, we wanted to be friends! (Laughs) Even with what’s written and what happens when you’re among the actors, the scene is a little different.
Want to go back to “This Is Where It All Begins”?
To be honest, I found this experience very pleasant. The door is open… just like in life. I have never done a daily and I want to tell myself that I will follow this character and he may not disappear from my life after the end of the contract!
