Gladiator 2: Six injured after accident on set

As Variety reports, several people were injured on June 7 on the set of Gladiator 2, which is currently underway in Morocco.

An accident occurred during the filming of a stunt sequence on the set of the Gladiator sequel, in which several crew members suffered life-threatening injuries.“, a spokesperson for Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the film, said in a statement.Security and full medical services teams were able to act quickly on the scene to get the victims the help they needed immediately. The condition of all of them is stable and they continue to receive treatment.

A total of six people had to be treated, four are still in hospital. All affected members were treated for burns, according to a product insider. Two other people were treated locally and then sent home. The accident happened at the end of a day of filming and the actors were not injured.

A Paramount spokesperson added:The welfare of the cast and crew is of the utmost importance to us and we have implemented strict health and safety procedures on all our productions. We will continue to monitor the situation and take all necessary precautions as production resumes.

The sequel to the 2000 epic stars Oscar nominee Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen. Ridley Scott, who directed the first film, also returns behind the camera, with David Scarpa penning the script.

Gladiator was one of the highest-grossing films of its debut year, winning the Academy Award for Best Picture as well as Best Actor for Russell Crowe. The sequel will hit theaters in November 2024.
