The British network BBC has released the first photo of the second season of “Time”, which highlights Bella Ramsey (star of “The Last Of Us”) alongside Jodie Whittaker (“Doctor Who”) and Tamara Lawrance (“A Christmas Between Us” ).
The series is an anthology set in a prison. Season 1 won the BAFTA Awards in the categories of Best Limited Series and Best Actor for Sean Bean’s performance (from “Game of Thrones”) as a man sentenced to 4 years in prison after killing a man in a car accident . Consumed by guilt, he openly accepts his sentence, but is quickly confronted with the harsh realities of prison life.
The drama was critically acclaimed and averaged over 10 million viewers per episode. The success turned what was originally a miniseries into an anthology series, with a different story per season.
Story of the second season
Season 2 will shift focus to a women’s prison. Ramsey will play a prisoner named Kelsey, who, along with Orla (Whittaker) and Abi (Lawrance), will face an unknown world. The three arrive at the prison on the same day to begin their sentences. Despite the shock and violence, the trio soon find a sense of community and even a shared understanding in their new surroundings.
The new cast also includes Sophie Willan (“Alma’s Not Normal”), Julie Graham (“Shetland”), Alicia Forde (“Waterloo Road”), Lisa Millett (“The A Word”), Kayla Meikle (“The Capture”) , James Corrigan (“This Is Going To Hurt”), Nicholas Nunn (“Click”) and Maimuna Memon (“Sherwood”). In addition, some actors from the first season will reprise their roles, including Siobhan Finneran (“Downton Abbey”) as the prison chaplain.
‘Time’ is the brainchild of English producer-writer Jimmy McGovern, winner of the International Emmy Award for ‘The Street’ (2006-2009) and acclaimed in the UK for series such as ‘Cracker’ (1993-2006) and ‘ Accused” (2010-2012), which won an American remake this year.
There is no season 2 premiere date yet. But it should be shown in Brazil on the HBO Max platform, which made the original series available.
