On the night of this Wednesday (14), Uruguay and Nicaragua face off in a friendly match in Montevideo. And, in the match that marked the debut of coach Marcelo Bielsa with Celeste, the hosts fought. The team beat the Nicaraguans 4-1, at the Estadio Centenario, in the first of two friendlies for the Uruguayan team.
In a duel between 16th and 140th in the FIFA rankings, it was no surprise to see Uruguay better than Nicaragua going into the game. After just eight minutes, Arezo received from Pellistri and made it 1 – 0. The Peñarol striker had a penalty to take, 20 minutes later, but goalkeeper Rodríguez saved. But the second goal came even before the interval, with Zalazar.
After the break, Brian Rodríguez doubled up for the Uruguayans. Already close to the end, Zalazar scored again, increasing the lead. When the defeat was already defined, Nicaragua had the chance to score their goal even against a much more traditional team: Coronel did the honor of the Central American team, which celebrated a lot.
The game had the participation of several players working in Brazil. Flamengo’s right-back Varela started playing for Uruguay. In the second half defender Bruno Méndez, from Corinthians, and striker Borbas, from Bragantino. In the Nicaragua team, Jacob Montes, from Botafogo, remained on the bench, but did not make it on.
