Director Andy Muschietti, responsible for the film “The Flash” released this Thursday (15/6) in theaters, has been confirmed to direct “Batman: The Brave and the Bold”, the first Batman feature film in the DC Studios era.
“We saw ‘The Flash’ before I even took the lead at DC Studios and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary filmmaker, but a huge DC fan as well,” Gunn and Safran said in announcing the hire. .
“‘The Flash’ is a magnificent film – funny, emotional, moving – and Andy’s affinity and passion for these characters and this world resonates in every frame. So when it came time to find a director for ‘The Flash’ Brave and the Bold’, there really was only one choice. Thankfully, Andy said yes. Barbara committed to producing with us and we were on our way. They make an amazing team and we couldn’t ask for better or more inspiring partners as we embark on this exciting new adventure in the DCU,” completed.
Muschietti and his sister Barbara will produce “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” through their Double Dream production company, alongside DC Studios presidents James Gunn and Peter Safran.

As yet without a screenwriter, the film will be based on the Grant Morrison comics that introduced Damian, Bruce Wayne’s biological son, raised by his mother Talia al Ghul in the League of Assassins and becoming the newest comic book Robin. Damian’s story will also mark the first appearance of a Robin in a live-action film since Chris O’Donnell played the role opposite George Clooney in the 1997 film ‘Batman and Robin.’
“It’s a very strange father-son story,” Gunn told the press in late January when he announced the production, which will have nothing to do with the planned sequel to the film “Batman” (2022), starring Robert Patinson.
Production contract with Warner
Along with the official announcement of the Argentine director to lead the new Batman, Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. Television Group/Max also announced an exclusive contract with Double Dream, the production company of the director and his sister.
“We couldn’t be more excited to strengthen our longstanding partnership with these incredibly talented and tireless filmmakers. Between Andy’s singular skill and vision as a director and Barbara’s sharp and visionary instincts as a producer, they form a true dream team. into filmmaking and channel their lifelong passion into films that deliver both compelling human stories and thrilling successes. It is one of the reasons why their films connect so broadly and powerfully with audiences around the world and they align perfectly with the type of film we want to make,” said Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, co-presidents and chief executive officers of Warner Bros. Film Group.
Andy and Barbara Muschietti were grateful for the opportunity. “Warner Bros. has been an incredible partner to us for years, but more importantly, Warner has been a part of our entire lives,” they said.
Before “The Flash”, Muschietti made the horrors “It – The Thing” (2017) and “It – Part 2” (2019) at Warner – after being revealed by Guillermo Del Toro in “Mama” (2013), at Universal.
