It’s one of the most anticipated feature films of the coming weeks, with every preview sold out: Anatomy of the Fall!
Directed by Justine Triet, the film really stood out with the last Cannes Film Festival’s highest award, the Palme d’Or, the 10th French film awarded and only the 3rd awarded to the director.
Here are the first pictures of the film, which will hit our screens on August 23. A suspenseful trailer that hints at the mystery that swirls throughout the film.
How did Samuel, who was found at the bottom of the chalet after his fall, die? Suicide or murder? The feature film tells the story of the investigation into a suspicious death and the trial of his companion Sandra. Anatomy of the Fall will destroy this couple…
The script was co-written by Justin Triet and Arthur Harar.
Anatomy of a Fall is based on a very rich script that mixes genres and never goes where you expect it to. It is both the drama of a couple whose fall is told in a feature film and, above all, a thriller and a trial film. For the anecdote, Justin Triet initially thought he might do a TV series, and the producers encouraged him to do a movie.
Remember that Anatomy of the Fall is the French director’s fourth feature, following The Battle of Solferino (2013), Victoria (2016) and Sybil (2019). The latter was selected for the competition in Cannes, but left empty-handed.
After Victoria and Sybil, both directed by Virgin Ephyra, Justin Treet has chosen for this new film the main actress Sandra Huler, who was very noticed at Cannes in 2016 in Toni Erdmann. The cast also features Swan Arlod, a young Milo Machado Graner, Antoine Reinarz, Samuel Theis and Jenny Bett.
The film is co-produced by Les Films de Pierre (Marie-Ange Luciani, producer of 120 BPM and the recent L’île rouge, both directed by Robin Campillo) and Les Films Pelléas (David Theon and Philippe Martin).
You’ll have to wait until August 23, 2023 to discover the film.
