Beyond Twilight: Director has ‘idea’ for film with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

Director David Cronenberg Has Plans for a Production Starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

Director David Cronenberg had an “idea” for a movie starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson – and, it is not a sequence of Twilight. The filmmaker worked with both actors separately and, in an interview with World of Reelrevealed that he wants to put the two in a new feature.

“He was Robert who introduced me Kristen,” said Cronenberg, who drove Pattinson in cosmopolis (2012) and recently worked with Stewart in Crimes of the Future (2022). “They developed as actors, separately, in a beautiful way. Making art films and washing away the success of that. Kristen and I had a great relationship and Rob and me too.”

When asked about the possibility of casting both actors in the same film, Cronenberg replied, “For me, yeah, I can definitely think of a movie, or an idea, it would be great to have the two together.”

“I don’t want to go into that too much because it won’t be my next movie,” he explained. Director also talked about how the public’s expectations on account of Twilight (2008) can disrupt production. “It can be a little problematic as fans can expect a certain type of relationship and that would get in the way of creating new characters for them. So I have a weird feeling it might be problematic, so it’s just an idea for now,” he said.

Stewart and Pattinson worked together on five films in the saga Twilightwhere he played Edward Cullena vampire who falls in love with Bella Swan, her character. The franchise was a fever among the teenage audience and is successful in streaming to this day.
