Thor has gone through many hiccups since his Marvel debut in 2011. In that time, fans got to see Chris Hemsworth go from a heroic Thunder God with long blond hair to his new playful, short-haired persona. Now, after more than a decade in the role, the actor isn’t sure he’ll return in more films, but he’s not ruling out the possibility.
What Chris Hemsworth said
In a website interview EW From Rescue 2Hemsworth said returning as Thor isn’t up to him alone, more so when Marvel has big plans for its next phase.
I have to be careful answering this question, because I have no idea what’s going to happen in (Marvel’s) next phase. There are always conversations, just like in Rescue. Before it becomes official, people have ideas. Officially I don’t know.
Chris Hemsworth
Repetitive character?
Thor is the only hero with four individual films so far. Not to mention his appearances in the Avengers movies.
Chris Hemsworth assures that he loves playing the hero, but that if he turns to another solo production, he wants to try new genres and styles and does not want his appearance to be repetitive for fans.
I don’t want to keep doing this until the audience is exhausted enough to roll their eyes when I appear on screen. If there’s an audience that wants to see me, and if there’s an interesting and fun way to approach the character, great. (…) I don’t have the answer to this yet, but I’d like to try to figure out how we can keep doing this in an unpredictable way.
