After The Flash, when are the next Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman movies coming out?

After a long wait, DC fans were able to discover The Flash, which opened in theaters on June 14. However, after the psychodrama Snyder Cut of Justice League and the bitter failures of Shazam 2 and Black Adam , the future of the DC Cinematic Universe seemed uncertain, doomed to die a slow death.

This was without considering James Gunn and Peter Safran, the new big guns at DC Studios, who decided to take matters into their own hands. Thus, they will give a push to the rival of Marvel by making radical decisions, in particular, moving away from Henry Cavill.

However, the comedian returned as Superman in Black Adam before announcing his return as the Man of Steel in Man of Steel 2. Unfortunately, this will never happen, much to the chagrin of the actor’s fans. DC and Warner Bros. also canceled the release of Batgirl, even though the film had already been shot and edited, after test screenings were deemed disastrous.

So complete uncertainty reigned over the studio’s next releases, whether it was The Flash due to Ezra Miller’s escapades or Aquaman 2 due to Amber Heard’s legal setbacks. Finally, the super-speedy hero has made his way to theaters. The Fisherman, played by Jason Momoa, will also be eligible for release on December 20, 2023.

But before you find the Colossus of the Seas, on August 16, 2023, a new DC superhero will appear: the Blue Beetle! The main character, Jaime Reyes, will be camped by Xolo Mariduena, Cobra Cais Miguel. This hero is a young man full of ambition.

When he returns home from college, the Scarab, an ancient relic of alien biotechnology, chooses to host him. The latter sees himself dressed in an unusual suit of armor that gives him unusual and unpredictable powers. Then everything changes for Jamie, who becomes the superhero Blue Beetle.

DC will then return on October 2, 2024 with Joker: Folie à Deux. Although this film is not strictly related to the DCEU, it will remain a landmark cinematic event after the phenomenal success of the first installment. Batman is in the same situation, developing in his own world. The second episode of Robert Pattinson’s Batman is expected on October 1, 2025.

After teaming up with Marvel and directing the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, James Gunn is coming up with a new Superman opus. Titled Legacy, it already has a release date of July 9, 2025. According to the filmmaker, the list of contenders for Krypton’s Red Cape has been narrowed down and an announcement will be made soon.

“The story will focus on Superman trying to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and America. He represents goodness in a world that believes goodness is obsolete.”Peter Safran said at a press conference in February 2023.

Meanwhile, James Gunn has revealed part of his plan of attack on the DCEU sequel. In addition to the feature film “Superman”, the director announced the start of several other projects on the film side: Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Swamp Thing and The Brave and the Bold. The latter should be directed by Andy Muschietti, to whom we already owe The Flash.

In 2009, a feature film inspired by the comics created by Grant Morrison marks Robin’s return to cinema. But the latter will not be Dick Grayson (later Nightwing) or Jason Todd (killed by the Joker and then returned as the Red Hood), but Damian Wayne, his last incarnation.

Damian is Bruce’s son. Genetically perfect, he grew up in the League of Assassins, where he learned to kill very quickly, revealing his existence to his father at the age of ten. Violent and sometimes indiscriminate, he takes on then-Robin Tim Drake and becomes a new version of Batman’s partner himself after stealing the suit.

“Damian Wayne is my favorite Robin. He’s a small-time assassin that Bruce is trying to bring to life. The movie will tell their story and it’ll kind of be the beginning of the DC Universe Bat-Family.”James Gunn said when the project was announced.

Will the filmmaker and Peter Safran leave Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne Sr. adjusting to this fatherhood? Will they start from scratch? An answer we may not have right away, as the release of Chapter 1 of the DCU, titled “Gods and Monsters” (“Gods and Monsters”), will therefore begin on July 9, 2025 with Superman Legacy. Other works under the DC label do not yet have a release date.

Wonder Woman 3, on the other hand, is the most complete uncertainty. After a stunning cameo in Shazam 2, will Gal Gadot return as Diana Prince? Nothing is less certain. The same goes for Ezra Miller in The Flash or Jason Momoa in a hypothetical Aquaman 3.
