Disney To Release Live-Action ‘Little Mermaid’ Animated Series: Here’s What It Will Be

Despite the criticism it received before its premiere, “The Little Mermaid” was positioned as one of the Disney live action movies more accepted by the fans.

As expected, the company is focusing on creating new content for the public’s taste and has surprisingly assured that a series of Princess Ariel will hit the screens, we explain.

Disney to premiere ‘Disney Junior Ariel’ animated series: inspired by ‘The Little Mermaid’

On June 13, Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, announced during the Annecy Animation Festival that they are working on “Disney Junior Ariel,” an animated series starring the world’s most beloved little mermaid.

The interesting thing is that this program will be created specifically for a very young audience, namely preschoolers.

According to a statement shared by the Variety portal, the show in question will be inspired by the movie it stars in Halle Baileybecause here the main character also has a dark skin tone.

Other characters will be present such as King Triton, Ursula, Sebastian and the girl’s best friend Flounder, who will surprisingly be illustrated identically to the one seen in the 1989 Disney film.

“Full of charm, great ideas and a powerful voice, ‘Disney Junior Ariel’ establishes herself, learns to discover and appreciate the world around her, and uses her voice to inspire others,” is the synopsis for the TV show.

In the chapters, Ariel will maintain a great curiosity about the world around her and earthly treasures, which she will collect in a cave, just like the original plot.

“When developing ‘Disney Junior Ariel,’ we knew we wanted to create an atmosphere that was vibrant and magical, and that brought out the imagination of our young Ariel, who, like our preschool audience watching at home, is so as big as the sea.” was the statement from Alyssa Sapire, Disney Junior’s senior vice president of development, series and strategy.

“Disney Junior Ariel” will be released in 2024 through the streaming platform Disney+ and for now, it is unknown if Halle Bailey will voice the main character or how many seasons it will have.

This news has spread on social networks and apparently netizens are divided, because although many were in favor, others just think it will be a colossal failure.

“Disney’s decline is spectacular”, “They resurrected chubby Flounder, thanks”, “Obviously they relied on the live action little mermaid, NOT the animation. And anyway, why are they fighting? I can’t imagine the big 30 I’ve been watching this for years “, “Awesome, like the movie, I won’t watch it either. They can stick with the super forced inclusion and consume the spam,” and “It’s so cute, I’m sure the kids will love it,” is how expressed on Twitter.
