What is it about?

He will have to relearn how to live and in turn accept survival.
Intensive preparation for Pierre Niney
Directed by Frédéric Tellier and released in theaters in 2018, Save or Perish is partially inspired by several real events. This drama, which takes its title from the motto of the Paris fire brigade, tells the story of the obstacle course of a badly burned firefighter after an intervention, who will do anything to return to an almost normal life and learn to live again.
To embody this hero, Pierre Nini began intensive training, especially physical. For the first part of the film, where he had to play a professional and trained firefighter, the French actor had to gain 9 kg of muscle and spend time immersed in the brigade, as he explained:
“I wanted to expand, change my silhouette and do what a Paris firefighter really does. I participated in famous plank climbing, rope climbing, carrying equipment, daily training… I also worked with a sports trainer and nutritionist. : I gained almost 9 kg of muscle for the first part of the film.”
It is then that a fire appears that will change the life of Pierre Nin’s character and touch him deeply in his body, which implies a new physical training of the actor. He had to quickly lose the 9 kg of muscle he had gained.
“A real physical challenge” Caesarized for the actor who stopped bodybuilding and drank only juice for a month and a half.

His physical transformation allowed Pierre Nin to deliver an even more intense performance in Save or Perish. And the actor wanted to give everything to his performance:
“I wanted to change my body, walk, the way I wear clothes… I wanted to be closer to the character. I spent time with the firefighters in the interventions and even drove them in the truck at night.”
This immersion with firefighters allowed Pierre Nini to understand what they face on a daily basis and what they experience emotionally. This allowed the actor to acquire the maturity and precision needed to portray Fireman Frank.
The public also responded to Save or Perish, which surpassed one million in theaters and was rated 4.1/5 by AlloCiné viewers, making it one of Pierre Nin’s best films according to them.
Save or Die is available on Prime Video, but you only have a week left to catch up if you haven’t seen it yet!
