The suspect impersonated a motoboy and claimed the victim had to pay for the shipment
A resident of Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo, fell victim to the “gift coup” and lost R$ 15,000. The suspect, who was posing as a delivery boy, went to his house saying he had a gift from the company where the victim works and that he would have to pay the shipping costs. While trying to pay, your card was cloned. The Carabinieri are investigating the case.
To the EarthBreakdown coordinator Feliphe Barros de Andrade, 40, said he didn’t suspect it was a scam, as the company sends a gift every year. Furthermore, she is on vacation and paternity leave, as her daughter has just been born.
The suspect rode a motorcycle to his home and honked his horn. “He said my full name and the name of the company I work for. […] I thought the company sent something because my baby was born,” she explains.
Upon receipt, the fake motoboy informed that he would have to pay the R $ 4.80 transport. Initially, he took his cell phone to pay the amount with the digital wallet, in debt, but the criminal said that the approximation function did not work. So he took out his credit card to make the payment.
The victim reports that she inserted the card into two vending machines, claiming that the transaction did not work. Neither time did he enter the password. “He got a little nervous, and that’s when my father-in-law got suspicious. Then him [criminoso] he said the company would pay,” he says.

The motoboy left and Feliphe discovered he had been the victim of a scam. He received three notifications on her cell phone: two approved purchases, one for BRL 9,999.99 and one for BRL 5,000, as well as one canceled for BRL 4,000.
He then contacted XP, his credit card company. The company has opened the dispute and the victim has registered the computer bulletin of the case. Now you expect the amount to be reversed on your bill.
“We know we get recognized and we think it will never happen to us, or if it does, we will connect. But they were very articulate. He said my name, company name, even asked about another employee. They go at the right time , more vulnerable”, vents.
OR Earth asked XP Investimento for a position on the case, but until the last update there was no response. The space remains open for events.
